Yes, we’re on a situation where someone else did a metal roof and there’s a lot of issues. They didn’t use they didn’t strip it with metal. I mean, a 1x4s. And they didn’t they fasten straight to the tin of the roof. And it’s coming up and leaking all over the place. You’ll see through here that that it’s acutally, knocking pieces of it off. We’re going to take it off. There’s no vapor barrier. We’re going to get vapor barrier. We’re going to strip it with one bys. Put vapor barrier on and then we’re going to put metal on it.
That goes from one side to the other, because, it, it’s a budget we’re trying to not take all her money. She’s an elderly lady.
So, the first thing we do is take apart what was put up, wrong. And that’s what you’ll see us do.
We took the metal off. You tell there was nothing used to strip anything. We’re going to strip it and fasten it to these rafters.
You can tell where the rafters are by when you put your foot you can stand and feel them. They are raised up and that’s what we’re going to be fastening them to.
Not only will it make something substaintial to fasten to that won’t pull out, it’s also going to tie the tin together. That much better, it’s now braced this way. Along with this. These rafters are made out of 1 and 1/2 to inch and half sized little 2x2s not a lot of strength we’re adding to. We’re using screws 3, this one might be a 2.5
That’s straight to the one by which is 3/4 of an inch, through the tin and into the rafters. So, we are stiffening this house try this way. I think you went on both sides. See, you went through that strip with that. They make a strap that goes, they use to strap it with an anchor all the way down the bottom of the ground. Goes over the top of the house and down the other side. Don’t do that switch anymore.
Here, I’m going to insulate these things or vapor barrier because it will sweat if you don’t put any kind of insulation in there. This is a new material that I’ve been using called Prodex. It‘s in 4’ wide sheets says this The radiant barrier has a HR value that is not affected by humidity, which regular insulation would be. Works as a vapor barrier.
It’s a Class A fire rating reduces or eliminates condensation in metal building. So it works as a condensate catcher, and it’s called Prodex. Works really, really well. There’s a lot of paperwork. The only complaint I really have about it is the majority of the paperwork’s in Spanish, so I guess they figured nobody speaking English would be doing it. It comes in rolls.
And what I do is I had put one 1×4 at one in and then whatever the width of the house after I measure it on the other end, and then I pull it back a little bit past on this side and then cut that one in the middle. Then we have insulation that will go all the way over just like our metal is going to do. And then I’ll take you a ride after that.
Hey guys, this is a finished product. We sealed all the roof with the penetrations, which are only three now because we put the plumbing vents underneath the roof and it’s got 16 inch overhang. But we had to hurry to get it done by dark and believe me, it’s dark now, so I apologize.
What didn’t take you all the way through it? But we’ve got a lot of of camera footage on this job. So I hope you picked up some of the things that sometimes high winds and things like that keep me pushed till next time. See you.
