Showing you that the Oxi-clean works just as well as sodium percarbonate. In the video, we show you how oxiclean stacks up against sodium percarbonate when cleaning an old wooden deck. We do two decks so you can see how the oxiclean gets rid of the mold and mildew.

OK, so we scrubbed it with the OxiClean works just as good as sodium percarbonate. So either one you want to use, OxiClean seems to be a bit more available, I would say. And then we hose it down. It’s got a lot of this deck has had a somebody smoking on it, so it’s got a lot of black spots where it’s burnt.
But if you notice the yellow is showing from the original pressure treatment and it’s looking pretty good, but we’ll let it dry over 24 hours, which it’s supposed to rain here in a minute, and that won’t help. And then we’ll be using some stuff called deck correct?
So there you go. You guys can use OxiClean just as easy as you can use sodium percarbonate. So now we’re spraying it on there and. It is a foaming up a little bit. That’s OK. That’s what we wanted to do.
It’s working and we let it sit 15 minutes like we did the other, and then we start scrubbing. We’ll start from the top down. Which we’ll do the handrails, and down, and then we hose it all off. And I’ll take you through that to see what the results are.
We’re going to do another deck which has got slightly different circumstances on the backside with a lot of sun, but it has mold and a green mildew. And the wood has turned gray and black. Well, this time we’re using Oxiclean, two cups into a gallon and we mixed it up with warm water.
And just the same as we did with the sodium percarbonate. And we’re going to wet it down first, and then we’re going to soak it for 15 minutes after pump using the pump up sprayer. And after 15 minutes, we’re going to scrub in on see what it does.
We’ve done most of the deck and as you can tell that it went from dark brown and green to yellow. And this is not dry yet. And then underneath here was green, green, green. Notice it’s turning yellow also. So we’re getting back to where we were originally.
Get all of those tight places with this type of a brush. It gets black all over me. We get an idea of what you can do at your place. I bought a brush to scrub with, and this is a good paint handle.
We’re screwing it on there. Also have a couple of hand scrub brushes. And we’re going to scrub it down, probably add some water to it, we’re scrubbing . You notice the brown disappearing, and the original press treated yellow is now showing up. We’re not losing.
The soft part where the grain would be standing up. All right. Let’s get the water turned on. Hey, guys, I think you’ve seen me do it before on another video. Well, we’re using sodium percarbonate to clean and not have to use a pressure washer, which knocks the soft part, sodium percarbonate.
And today we’re also going to compare using OxiClean. And it should do the same because as this basic same ingredients as sodium percarbonate, we’re going to find out today. And we have two decks to work on. First thing you do is you wash it all down and get all kinds of sweeping done and then get soaking wet.
And then you put two cups of sodium percarbonate, percarbonate not bicarbonate and and or two cups of OxiClean into one gallon. This is a pump up sprayer and you mix it up in hot water. That’s better. So we’re going to get hot water after we spray this deck.
Then you spray it on and you let it sit for 15 minutes, then you start scrubbing and hosing off. So that’s what we’re going to do. So first thing is to pump water everything down.
